When should you replace a robot vacuum filter?
A clogged filter makes the motor work harder and lets fine dust back into the room. Most filters tell you when they are done if you know what to look for.
Signs the filter is done
Look for a filter that stays grey after tapping, has a stiff or crumbly texture, or no longer holds its shape. A drop in suction or a louder motor can also point to a blocked filter.
A simple routine
- Tap loose dust into the bin every week or two.
- Rinse washable filters only if your manual says they can be washed.
- Let a rinsed filter dry completely before putting it back.
- Swap in a spare while the first one dries.
How often to replace it
Six to twelve months is a planning estimate. Pets, carpets, and daily runs shorten it; follow your manufacturer's guidance and the condition of the filter.
